表皮生长因子(Epidermal growth factor, EGF)是EGF蛋白家族的创始成员,其特点是与各种EGF受体(egfr)高亲和力结合,并产生有丝分裂反应(Carpenter & Cohen)。EGF促进EGFR二聚化,激活下游通路,包括PI3K、ERK1/2、JAK/STAT、β-catenin和钙信号。EGF由与肠道相关的唾液腺和布鲁纳腺分泌,存在于多种体液中,并刺激啮齿动物和新生儿肠道中的细胞增殖和分化(Wright等)。EGF可刺激小鼠胚胎干细胞增殖或诱导A431细胞终末分化/生长抑制(Heo等)。

(A) The biological activity of Mouse Recombinant EGF was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells. Cell proliferation was measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the example above is less than 0.1 ng/mL. (B) 5 μg of Mouse Recombinant EGF was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. Mouse Recombinant EGF has a predicted molecular mass of 6.2 kDa.
