转化生长因子-α (TGF-α)是表皮生长因子（EGF）家族的一员，在正常上皮细胞、单核细胞、巨噬细胞、脑细胞、角质形成细胞和癌细胞中均有表达。TGF-α可与表皮生长因子受体（EGFR）结合，并激活酪氨酸激酶信号通路。在表皮和上皮细胞中，这可促使细胞增殖和分化。TGF-α与TGF-β在结构和基因上均无关联，两种配体通过不同的信号通路起作用。在体外实验终，TGF-α被证明可以刺激细胞的非锚定生长（Singh & Coffey）。

(A) The biological activity of Human Recombinant TGF-alpha was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells. Cell proliferation was measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the above example is less than 0.2 ng/mL. (B) 2 μg of Human Recombinant TGF-alpha was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
