总览
强力霉素是一种四环素类的抗生素(Hicks et al.; Nau et al.; Solís García del Pozo & Solera; Steinhardt et al.)。在基因工程中，强力霉素被用作诱导基因表达系统的调控因子，其表达依赖于强力霉素的存在（Tet-On）或缺失（Tet-Off）。此外，强力霉素抑制某些基质金属蛋白酶（MMP），如MMP-8 (Ki = 36µM）（Griffin et al.; Smith et al.)。但对MMP-1和MMP-13的抑制作用较弱（Ki > 100 µM）（ Smith et al.）。该产品以盐酸盐的形式提供。
